![]() Spooky season is coming to a close as Halloween weekend is creeping upon us. It will be with a heavy heart and a candy-induced sugar high that I will remove cobwebs from bushes and throw out a nearly molded jack-o’-lantern a week from today. But the proverbial lady hasn’t sung yet and the weekend is still a long work-week away, so for now, we will revel in all things spooky, scary, startling, and most importantly—delicious.
If you’re in the Bay Area this weekend or are making your way there for Outside Lands, don’t miss out on the chance to try one of nearly 100 food vendors that will be congregating in Golden Gate Park for the music festival. Attendees are encouraged to dress up on Sunday, when headliners will include J. Balvin and Tame Impala, and local restaurants are serving dishes with spooky and seasonal twists. Dishes like pig’s head fried rice from newly opened San Francisco Filipino restaurant, Abacá, and pumpkin ice cream waffle tacos from Rocko’s Ice Cream Tacos in Santa Clara are set to make an appearance.
Can’t make it to the fest? No worries—we’ve got the recipes for both dishes mentioned prior as well as a black lemonade (that would taste great as a spiked punch) from Bloomstock cafe and a pizza topped with delicata squash from A16, both located in San Francisco. To really set the mood, we’ve also gathered all of the tips and tricks you need to throw a Halloween-themed dinner party to serve all of your dishes at. From table settings to decor and more, you’re in the right place to find all of your Halloween dishes and finishing touches.

Tool of the Week: Five Two Ultimate Baking Tools Set
![]() The Five Two Ultimate Baking Tools set While making a brioche loaf with one of my good friends last week it came time to egg-wash our beautifully risen bread, and as the egg mixture was brought over I had an internal moment of panic realizing she lived in a house without a pastry brush. As my brain came to deal with the situation (and we egg-washed with our fingers and a fork) she told me that she thought a pastry brush was an extreme luxury for a home baker. The brioche did come out of the oven baked and glazed to perfection, but I now knew what I would be gifting this baking bestie of mine for the holidays: a simple pastry tools set. Whether you gift this kit to the baker in your life or you pick one up for yourself to make your holiday baking sessions a bit easier, I can assure you each of the tools in this set is as essential as having a rolling pin in your arsenal.
