Some vacations are about covering as much ground as possible. When you know you might not return to a place any time soon, it's tempting to get out of your hotel room and hit the streets—or the trails, or the beach—early and hard, returning only to sleep.
This kind of vigorous break from everyday life is rewarding, but my personal favorite vacations have been ones with a restorative element. Sometimes that looks like splurging on a massage, and sometimes like turning the phone off to stop the constant stream of social media images. And sometimes it looks like putting the itinerary aside, sleeping in, and having an enormous comfort-food breakfast in bed.
Turns out I'm not the only one here who's a fan of room service. This week, travel editor Krista Simmons (who favors an extra-salty Caesar moment herself) lays out the room-service orders we should absolutely be indulging ourselves with. Read on for editor recommendations for the meals that will become fond vacation memories.
